The Yalçınkaya Project was designed to transform the bedrooms of 13-year-old twin girls in Zekeriyaköy from children’s rooms into teenage rooms. In this project, an interior design was created that responded to both the personal preferences of the girls and the needs of their parents.

The rooms were designed in the colors the girls requested, one in blue and the other in green. While the girls preferred an open shelving system, the parents requested a more enclosed system to prevent clutter. To reconcile these demands, perforated slats were used to create open-shelving wardrobes integrated with a closed system, offering a design that combined aesthetics with functionality.

Identical-sized makeup tables and study desks were planned for both rooms, ensuring an equal balance of individual needs. Although the angled layout of the rooms posed challenges in placing these functional elements, creative solutions were implemented to overcome them. The design process aimed to provide a dynamic aesthetic that reflected the girls’ tastes while meeting the parents’ expectations for organization. The Yalçınkaya Project successfully delivered a modern and functional space transformation with a personalized touch tailored to the needs of the teenage girls.
